I actually think Honda is on the path to better styling – I don’t like the current CRV but the new HRV is looking pretty good. If they could incorporate some of that styling in the next CRV that would be a good thing.

I think this is a (yet another) bit of genius from LM. While manufacturing using mass-production techniques will always be cheaper, I can see there being a market for smaller factories meeting more specific needs locally and tailoring to a particular customer’s style using 3D printing. And using electric motors just makes everything simpler and cheaper – less need for fluids makes for a very straightforward build.

Aside from the weight reduction, I’d think the biggest “accomplishment” is marrying the fit-and-finish of a Honda to the power of an American motor. The Viper was notorious for its poor build quality. The S2000 on the other hand was always considered a great little car, if not particularly powerful, and the build quality from pretty much everything Honda puts out is top-notch. So it seems like a match made in heaven, if the frame of the Honda can actually handle all that power (which I suspect it can’t).

I wasn’t familiar with Formula SAE, but after having read about it, it sounds like an awesome competition and the cars that come out of it sure seem like they’d be fun to drive – basically a motorcycle’s weight and power, in a four-wheeled design. It’s great that JL was able to be there and drive that car – congrats to U Conn for making such an awesome vehicle, and getting one of the country’s most enthusiastic auto enthusiasts to drive it!

I’m a huge Kindle fan, and a lot of the Voyage’s new features appeal to me (especially the buttons), but when I bought the Paperwhite when it first came out, I was pretty sure it would be the last Kindle I would buy, and I don’t think the Voyage changes that. It’s just not worth the cost of the upgrade, especially if you look at the $289 price with 3G and no ads. If my PW gets run over by a bus or stolen by a baggage handler, I would probably replace it with a Voyage, but otherwise I’m just …read more

This is a particular pet-peeve of mine. I abide by the two-second rule (at least) and I hate it when someone decides that getting a car-length ahead is worth getting in that space between me and the next car, making both them and me into tailgaters. The rule should be follow other cars by at least two seconds, and don’t pull in front of a car unless you can leave them two seconds worth of space behind you.
