I guess it’s all dependent on climate, but speaking from personal experience of having a rooftop garden in NYC, I can tell you carrots, radishes and zucchini aren’t easy. First, the root veggies probably take a certain degree of soil depth, but even with deep planters I wasn’t able to get more than a few nubbins. Maybe it was the nutrients in the soil, but it was all top, no carrot for me. And I’ve tried several types of zukes and squash, and haven’t had any fruit whatsoever.
